Electric scooters took over the streets, and now they're king below the water.

You see, an underwater scooter wasn't just a wacky idea from a few CES tech shows ago. It's still going strong. In fact, the latest version from Sublue was released Friday ahead of the big electronics show in Las Vegas.

The Mix Pro is a small double-propeller device that can pull you through the water at speeds up to 4 mph for up to 60 minutes. Then the battery needs a recharge.

A few years ago, Sublue unveiled the Whiteshark Mix scooter, but the Mix Pro is even smaller (it's 4.5 pounds), faster with two speed selections, and longer-lasting. The older underwater scooter goes for $700, and we've asked about pricing for the newest model.

You can take it as far as 131 feet below. A detachable buoyancy tank lets new swimmers make it 5 meters below the surface, while more experienced divers can ditch the tank and go deeper.

Last CES, Sublue unveiled a one-handed scooter for deep sea diving. This year, a tank on the showroom floor will show the latest model.

An LED screen facing you as you hold onto the "scooter" displays how much power you're using, as well as your speed and alerts for low battery.

It does look like a scooter, maybe. Credit: sublue

What's the point of this underwater exploring if you don't capture it? There's a waterproof phone case mount so you can record your splashes.
